Metro Toronto Zoo - Master plan

Project Description:
In 1969 Johnson Sustronk Weinstein and Associates Ltd. were hired
to create a detailed
Master Plan for the new Metro Toronto Zoo. This plan incorporated
bold and exciting concepts around which a
Zoo of international stature could be built. Animals were to be
groped by their native continents and visitors
brought as close to them as possible with a minimum awareness
of barriers or cages.
The outstanding landscape of the 1200 acres in the Rouge River
Valley was to dominate the
displays and buildings were to be integrated into the natural
terrain.
